20 Okla. EMS agencies awarded $2.1M in grants

The funds will be distributed among 20 EMS agencies who submitted proposals to stabilize or improve their services

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. –– The Oklahoma State Department of Health awarded 20 EMS agencies more than $2 million in grants.

The funds will be distributed as part of the Oklahoma Emergency Response Systems Stabilization and Improvement Revolving Fund among 20 EMS agencies based on submitted proposals by officials to stabilize or improve their services, Oklahoma's News 4 reported.

"The purpose for this fund is to stabilize and improve EMS functions within the state," OERSSIRF Contract Manager Dale Adkerson said. "These restricted tobacco taxes help fund many EMS programs servicing rural Oklahoma."

Each agency was selected based on economic viability, cost-effectiveness, population and the overall scope of need, among other factors.
