Wis. fire and EMS receive more than $260K in grants

McFARLAND, Wis. — Firefighters and emergency medical workers in McFarland have reason to celebrate this summer.

Bigger and better air packs, carbon monoxide detectors and hopefully a new watercraft will be on their way thanks to more than $260,000 in grants to the village’s Fire and Emergency Medical Services departments.

Much of the departments’ equipment was purchased in the late 1990s and designed to last 15 years or less, said Brian Molenaar, who coordinated the grant applications and also has served as a McFarland volunteer firefighter and EMT for 15 years. “The equipment we have is good, but it’s at the end of its life.”
