MT. VERNON, Wash. — Jefferson County Emergency Management and Mt. Vernon Emergency Management have each received Illinois Emergency Management Agency grants.

According to information from Gov. Pat Quinn’s office, grants totaling $4 million were awarded to help 121 accredited city and county emergency management agencies across the state to support local disaster preparation and response efforts.

“During the floods this spring, local emergency management agencies led heroic efforts to protect the people of Illinois,” Quinn stated. “These organizations stand ready to respond, 24 hours a day, seven days a week to any type of disaster that impacts their communities. We will continue to do everything we can to make sure they have the tools needed to prepare and respond to those emergencies.”
