The ambulances were purchased with a $335,000 grant awarded to the agency in May

SENECA, Pa. — A local EMS agency received three new ambulance this week, two weeks ahead of their scheduled arrival.

Seneca EMS was awarded a $335,000 grant in May for the ambulances, reported the Advertiser Tribune . The agency matched half the grant with $115,000 to complete the purchase.

Agency Director Ken Majors said the ambulances have been painted, striped and have passed inspections.

“It’s a long way from what we started with,” Majors said. “It’s a long way from what we are replacing. [These ambulances] are pretty state-of-the-art.”

The ambulances are expected to be in service in as soon as two weeks. Majors noted that establishing units that are available 24/7 will benefit all county EMS squads.

“We need to make sure we put our best foot forward. We can bring experienced advanced life support to the scene 24/7,” Majors said.
