NHTSA's Office of EMS seeks provider input on grant rules

WASHINGTON — The Office of EMS and the National 911 Program are encouraging EMS professionals to offer input on the second draft of a proposed rulemaking for the Annual Highway Safety Grant Program.

There is a proposal for uniform procedures in implementing state highway safety grant programs, resulting from the enactment of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Some grant requirements would be reorganized, streamlined and updated.

The Office of EMS and the National 911 Program are housed in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation. The DOT aims to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways, and the National Roadway Safety Strategy includes references to EMS and to 911 systems.

The comment period ends on Oct. 31.
