JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — All students in Lincoln University’s fall 2025 EMT certification cohort will have their $1,600 tuition covered through a $22,000 grant from the AT&T Scholarship Fund.
The EMT program, offered by the university’s Security Sciences Institute, pairs a front-half semester of academic coursework with a second-half emphasis on clinical, hands-on training,

“We have agreements underway with five different clinical providers including MU Health, Cole County EMS and Boone County EMS,” program director Adrian Petrescu said.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 6% increase in EMT employment from 2023 to 2033. The program’s first cohort is already underway, with trainees attending hybrid sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 9 p.m.
The program meets all national and state standards for initial EMT certification, including required practical training. In early October, Gov. Mike Kehoe announced the Public Safety Recruitment and Retention Act Scholarship, which helps eligible Missourians pay tuition for approved licenses, certifications, or degrees at Missouri colleges or DHSS-accredited training providers.
