BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — The Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Department received a $37,332 grant from Palm Beach County Emergency Management to replace and update three battery-powered stretchers that have been in service for the past seven years.

The new power stretchers feature an enhanced battery system and additional safety features, including extendable side panels to accommodate larger patients, easier maneuverability, better ergonomics and greater reliability.

"The purchase is huge for us," said Boynton Beach Fire Department EMS coordinator Michael Landress. "These state-of-the-art cots are utilized by our paramedics on a daily basis and need to be reliable and safe."
