PulsePoint, Citizen CPR Foundation bring grant competition to ECCU Conference

NEW ORLEANS — PulsePoint Foundation teamed up with the Citizen CPR Foundation for a grant competition at the Emergency Cardiovascular Care Update Conference.

PulsePoint reported that the community that proves they are most committed to improving care and follows the mission of the Citizen CPR Foundation will win a complete PulsePoint Respond implementation and coverage of first year’s costs, valued at $20,000.

The PulsePoint app alerts CPR-trained people of cardiac arrests nearby so they can administer treatment, and also informs responders of nearby AEDs.  The app is used by over 2,200 communities across the country.

Communities wishing to enter can submit an application here. Three finalists will be chosen before the ECCU Conference and will have the opportunity to present their entries.

Judges will score the submissions based on the criteria below:

• Demonstration of a strong commitment to the Chain of Survival.
• Leadership commitment to implement PulsePoint.
• Identification and introduction of a PulsePoint project lead.
• Demonstration of broad stakeholder backing including key letters of support.
• Readiness to implement within a reasonable timeframe after award.
• Evidence of success with other community-wide programs of similar scope.
• Overview of community outreach planned to encourage adoption and use.
• Acknowledgement of technical requirements for use of PulsePoint.
• Willingness to continue PulsePoint beyond initial award period.

Applications are due Sept. 1.
