Overview:

The Alaska Highway Safety Office (AHSO), on behalf of Governor of the State of Alaska, is responsible for implementing the State's Highway Safety Program through a partnership with the Federal Governement. We look for innovative projects that will provide solutions to identified problems, implement proven strategies, show a commitment on the part of the applicant to sustain and contribute to success, have measurable outcomes, and/or have the greatest demonstrable need/problem.

- Emergency Medical Services

Purpose:

To improve driving conditions on Alaska's public roadways and reduce the number of injuries and deaths resulting from traffic crashes.

Matching Funds:

Projects that include matching funds will receive special consideration. Please note other funding sources, such as local funds and other resources in the overal project budget.

Reimbursement Eligibility Requirements:

Grants are awarded on a "cost reimbursement" basis.

- Public Education Campaigns

- Equipment and Materials

- Traffic Records Systems

- Training and Travel directly related to the project

Grant Awarding Schedule:

Project Abstracts Due: January 8, 2010

Grant Applications Due: February 16, 2010

Project Start Date: October 1, 2010

Project End Date: September 30, 2011
