Grant Details: Funding Available for Emergency Operations Centers On December 8th, FEMA announced the availability of FY2010 Emergency Operations Center (EOC) grants. This funding is available nationwide for the construction or renovation of a state, local or tribal government’s principal EOC. Approximately $10 million is available competitively for projects with up to $1 million for construction, or $250,000 for renovation. Applications must be submitted on the FEMA Investment Justification template to OJA via email at OJAHomelandSecurity@wi.gov no later than January 20, 2010. OJA will review and submit the applications to FEMA on behalf of all Wisconsin applicants. The template and grant guidance documents are available for download at http://www.fema.gov/government/grant/eoc/index.shtm. Instructions are outlined beginning on page 9 (item #4) and continuing through page 13 of the grant guidance document. Please follow the format and provide all information that is requested. Last year FEMA received a total of 613 individual EOC applications and was able to fund only 22 EOC projects nationwide. Recognizing the limited amount of competitive funding available in FY 2010, FEMA will give consideration to EOC projects that are not already receiving prior years’ EOC Grant Program and/or Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Program funding. Overview: The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Grant Program is intended to improve emergency management and preparedness capabilities by supporting flexible, sustainable, secure, and interoperable Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) with a focus on addressing identified deficiencies and needs. This program provides funding for construction or renovation of a state, local, or tribal governments’ principal EOC. Fully capable emergency operations facilities at the state and local levels are an essential element of a comprehensive national emergency management system and are necessary to ensure continuity of operations and continuity of government in major disasters caused by any hazard. Total Funding: Approximately $10 million is available competitively for projects with up to $1 million for construction, or $250,000 for renovation.
