Search and Rescue Grant - Kentucky

Description: 

The purpose of this grant is to solve identified problems or concerns for Kentucky Rescue Squads.  Priority for grant funding will be given to rescue squads that have no other means of funding, i.e., federal grants, KOHS grants, etc., and to requests that fulfill unique needs within a community or region and teams that do not charge for services.  These funds will be allocated by the Search and Rescue section of the Division of Emergency Management through a competitive grant process.

The SAR Program is also a support function to the counties, local rescue squads and other emergency services organizations who perform search, rescue and recovery operations for lost, missing and overdue persons.

Training courses, Basic Search and Rescue and Managing Search Operations, are offered several times a year, free of charge. Grants are offered each year to eligible rescue squads and specialty rescue teams for purchasing minimum equipment required in Chapter 39F and for optional rescue equipment.
