EMS Local Projects Grant Program
The Office of Emergency Medical Services Trauma System Coordination is responsible for managing Local Projects Grant (LPG) funding. The source of funding is from the Permanent Emergency Medical Service and Trauma Care Tobacco Endowment funds. The purpose of LPG funds is to support and improve the development of the Texas Emergency Health Care System and increase the availability and quality of emergency pre-hospital health care.

Who is eligible for funding?

Eligible organizations include department licensed EMS providers, department registered first responder organizations, Regional EMS/Trauma Advisory Councils (RACs), EMS education organizations, and pre-hospital injury prevention organizations.

When is the LPG application period open?
The LPG application, referred to as a Request For Proposal (RFP), is open once per year, for a six week period. The RFP is curently open and will close at 2:00 P.M., C.D.T. on May 13, 2010.

What types of projects are funded through LPGs?

EMS personnel certification training, specialty training related to pre-hospital health care management, communication equipment, patient care equipment and non-disposable supplies, injury-prevention projects, continuing education programs and the purchase of an ambulance.

How can I apply?
The application for LPGs is referred to as a Request for Proposal (RFP). The RFP contains all of the eligibility requirements, as well as, the application instructions and forms. The RFP is currently closed. When the next RFP is available, it will be posted on the Electronic State Business Daily web site. Check this web page for the announcement of the new RFP in spring 2010.

Historically, about $1 million has been available for funding LPG awards each year.
