Improving Access to Health Care (IMPACT) Grants Program

Description: 

Overview:
The purpose of the Improving Access to Health Care (IMPACT) Grant Program is to increase access to quality, health and health-related services for the people of Florida, especially uninsured and/or underserved children and adults.

For 2013, grants will be strategically awarded to nonprofit organizations and public agencies across the state to incorporate new, innovative and/or evidence-based approaches that build program and / or organizational capacity to increase access to:

  • Primary Care (may include, but is not limited to: routine check-ups / well visits; diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses such diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, depression and anxiety, HIV / AIDS, etc.; patient education and counseling; basic maternal and child health care services, such as family planning services and vaccinations; etc.)
  • Dental care
  • Vision care

Eligibility:
The following organizations are eligible to apply for an IMPACT grant:

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations as determined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under Section 170 of the U.S. Code
  • Public and government agencies, organizations and institutions (e.g., public K-12 schools, colleges, community colleges and universities; county health departments; county libraries; etc.)

Funding Areas:
IMPACT grants may be used to fund a wide array of expenses associated with delivering programs and projects focused on increasing access to quality, health-related services. Eligible expenses include, but are NOT limited to, the following:

  • Staff salaries and benefits
  • Consultant fees and contracted labor
  • Medical equipment and supplies
  • Prescriptions and medications
  • Office equipment and supplies
  • Travel-related expenses
  • Professional fees
  • Capital expenses
  • Indirect / overhead-related expenses (i.e., rent, utilities, etc)
