Important News Regarding the 2012 Grants Clearinghouse

Due to the uncertainty caused by the recent election as well as the current lack of an approved Federal budget, California Fire Safe Council has revised the 2012 Grants Clearinghouse calendar. Because information is limited at this time regarding sources, timing and amounts of funding, CFSC would like to make you aware of following changes.

Additionally, CFSC has recently contracted with a new web programming firm that is local to the organization and has the capacity to work with CFSC's ever-growing online Clearinghouse system and extensive database. While the new programmers have made good progress during the transition, they have experienced some “glitches” while improving the complicated system. Once the transition is complete, you will find the Grants Clearinghouse's online grant application better and easier to use.

The 2012 Grants Clearinghouse will open for applications on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. On this date, the Request for Applications (RFA) will be available for viewing and download on the Grants Clearinghouse website.

The 2012 grant application deadline has been extended to Friday, April 1, 2011, allowing for additional time for CFSC and applicants to receive details about funding, match requirements, program priorities and other key points.

The Grant Writing Workshops, scheduled for December and January in various statewide locations, will be postponed until later dates.

The CFSC Board of Directors is actively working to obtain additional federal funding for wildfire prevention activities, realizing that California’s vulnerability to devastating wildfires remains unabated. The Board is communicating the urgency of our need for this funding to key legislators and federal partners, and s uggests you to do the same with your local Congressional representatives.

We appreciate your patience with these unavoidable changes to 2012 Grants Clearinghouse timeline and apologize for any inconvenience that this delay may cause.

Please continue to consult the Grants Clearinghouse website regularly for updated information regarding the 2012 Grants Clearinghouse.
