Pa. fire company receives grant to go green
PALMYRA, Pa. — Nearly 50 public entities, including municipalities and school districts, are sharing about $2.5 million in state and federal grants to make their operations and facilities more energy-efficient.
Towns, school districts, municipal utilities authorities and a fire company all have completed energy audits and received the grants to fund their green efforts through the ongoing shared-services initiative of the Burlington County Board of Freeholders and the county Bridge Commission.
Officials encouraged entities that have not taken advantage of the program to apply to have the no-cost energy audit performed. A completed audit is the first step to tapping into a variety of state and federal grants available for improvements, replacements and upgrades that can cut energy costs, officials said.
